FAQ

Do I need to buy Pro to use Kata?

No. Kata Community is free and open-source (PolyForm Noncommercial) and has the full editor, refactoring catalog, and smell analyzer. Pro removes the monthly AI cap and grants commercial-use rights.

Do I pay for AI on top of the license?

No. Kata calls your own Claude Code / Codex CLI. Your existing AI subscription covers all requests — Pro doesn't add a per-request charge.

Can I move my license to another machine?

Yes. Open Preferences → Pro → Deactivate license. This releases the seat on the Lemon Squeezy side so you can activate on a new machine.

What if I go offline?

The Pro plugin caches your validation for 7 days without any network check and up to 30 days with a warning. Beyond 30 days offline, you need to reconnect once to revalidate.

Refunds?

Contact dhq_boiler@live.jp within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked.

Team / Business — how do renewals work?

Yearly subscription via Lemon Squeezy. Cancel anytime from the Lemon Squeezy customer portal. Your Pro features continue until the end of the paid period.

Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning?

Kata isn't yet Authenticode code-signed, so on first run Windows shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen — click More infoRun anyway to proceed. Code signing is on the roadmap; we didn't want to block the v1 launch on the certificate paperwork (slower for Japan-based indie developers). The warning goes away once we ship signed builds.
